Herdsman Lake south WA

Survey Point Herdsman Lake south WA
Latitude -31.9291600 (31° 55′ 45″ S)
Longitude 115.8054500 (115° 48′ 20″ E)

This is a birding hotspot in the inner suburbs of Perth. The area around the Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre has a good variety of habitats, from some open water, extensive reed beds and paperbark wetlands, there is a short boardwalk that is worth getting up early to see the crakes and rails for, and if you’re lucky there are Australian Little Bitterns to see here in summer. As the lake dries out the edges become good habitat for Long-toed Stint and Pectoral Sandpiper again in summer. It is also a reliable spot for Tawny Frogmouth.
