In Mitchell off the Warrego Hwy to the north of the town along Racecourse Rd this is a popular free campsite, with people strung out along the side of the weir. Despite the number of people here which will include children swimming in the weir, this is still a good spot to go birding.
Camp rating 9 The many free camps are strung out along the southern edge of the silted up weir, there are good facilities here so it’s very popular.
